The Message Glorious: A blessed road trip and speaking engagement

Wow! What an awesome road trip to Mt Vernon, Ohio. God definitely had His hand in bringing this trip about. Michael sent a copy of The Message Glorious to a friend in Mt Vernon last Christmas. This year, when her women's ministry team started planning their program for this year and the topic was to be God's faithfulness from generation to generation she thought of Mom's book. From that...came our invitation to speak at their Christmas program AND they purchased 95 books to give to the women of their church. Mom (now 87), Scott and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with these new friends. It is so exciting to meet and share with new people.

The Resurrection of the Mallard Ducks - an excerpt from The Message Glorious

My granddaughter, Kelley, has an overwhelming love for animals, a trait I think she inherited from her Granddad. When she was just a little tyke, she would help Lloyd prepare his prize banties for the county fair. They would wash and groom those little chickens, spending hours fluffing their feathers with a softly blowing dryer.

When she came to live with Scott and me after her Granddad's passing, I found her love of all things animal most challenging. She just couldn't pass up a stray kitten or a homeless bunny, and she would beg and coddle me into accepting them into our care.

I found I just had to set some limits on her exuberance or our pet menagerie would have just overwhelmed us. On one occasion, she was just determined to buy four mallard ducks to place on our pond.

Well, all went well for several days. The ducklings were housed in our small barn, and Kelley was faithfully tending to their needs. One evening, however, she came bursting through the back door crying hysterically, "Oh, they're dead! They're all dead!"

In her hands she carried all four tiny ducklings...all four indeed...dead. "What happened?" I exclaimed, and she recounted that the ducklings had gotten so dirty in the barn, and she proceeded to give them baths; but, no sooner than she placed the ducklings in the cold water, they all collapsed.

My mind whirled and, knowing I had a load of towels drying in the dryer, I quickly turned off the dryer and placed the ducklings inside atop the hot towels. I prayed aloud, "O God, you have all power. You can bring these ducklings back to life." ...and, miracle of miracles, all four ducklings revived and lived to spend many days on the pond.

Later on, their natural predator, a hawk, took their lives...but I thank God my Kelley didn't have to think she killed them.
